Wine Details

The 2006 vintage Cabernet Reserve has stunning grace and elegance. A long and cool growing season, punctuated with a heat spike in the late summer, allowed the fruit to hang well into October to deliver a wine with an unparalleled balance of ripe fruit and acid worthy of cellaring for the ages. Delicious, pure, and rich with cassis, plum and blackberry mixed with violets, mineral, and tobacco enveloped by ultra-refined tannins of tremendous length and power.

Cam Confidential

A winery owned by one of the biggest names in cult Napa Valley Cabernet has quietly changed hands. The vineyards themselves were not a part of the transaction, and because of the lack of continuity in vineyard sourcing for future productions, the winery's library collection became available. The Cameron Hughes Private Reserve Collection is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of one the world's most exclusive wine libraries.

I received a private reserve case as a gift.

Fantastic wine, but seemed to me that it was starting to approach its final year.

Have shared 4 bottles of this with friends. My go to when we are having a 'nice bottle of wine' event and I know most are bringing $100 + wines. The best part is the CH 2006 is always in the top 3 of the bunch.

Medium consistency with a long finish and integrated flavor profile. Medium nose - Dark chocolate, blueberry & cherry

Good wine, but I seem to enjoy it a little more when I am able to purchase all the reserves when on sale. That said - I know stock is getting low, so if you want to try it and haven't I would (and have) purchased a bottle or two at normal price. Would give it 4.5 stars if I had the option.

I purchased this as part of the 2006-2011 vertical. This is the first bottle I opened. I thought it was good...but not great. There is a lot to like, but, in my humble opinion, it is starting to creep past its prime. It has the same hints of flavor as some really great bottles I wish I had opened about a year earlier. Based on how I imagine this bottle was earlier, I am pretty excited about drinking the rest, though. Not one I would buy again as a single, though.

This is the best Cabernet that I've gotten from CHwine. Will acquire more as my budget permits!

Perhaps I was expecting too much after reading previous reviews; but I was a bit disappointed in this wine. Don't get me wrong, it is an excellent wine; it ranks right up there with $80 & $90 2009 Bordeaux's. However, the 2009 was much more complex and much more satisfying than the 2006.

Will get one for a gift to a friend. Then I can help him drink it. Great price

Wow,was that great wine . Shared it with two other people at a birthday party, then had to compare it to another (chwine) ,and that was also excellent. So impressed with all three wines we sampled, or should I say drank through the night. It was a night to remember..

Hands down, you can not get this great of a wine in a bottle that costs this little. As a Napa frequent visitor, this is comparable to $300/bottle easily. If you want to splurge, now's the time.

I bought three of the 2006 - 2011 flight cases. At a family gathering (you need a lot of people) I had a blind taste test of the 6 bottles. It was very interesting. Everyone agreed that the 2006, 2007, and 2008 were the best of the six. They argued over which was better between the 2007 and 2008, but everyone agreed the 2006 was the best. Snatch up the 2006 before it goes away. POOF and it'll be gone!
