Chenin Blanc, the white grape of the central Loire Valley, didn’t used to be such a rare bird stateside – prior to 2000, it was actually planted quite widely in California. Alas, most wineries gradually realized there was better return on investment producing Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc. However, the last few years have seen a bit of a domestic resurgence of this is a supremely versatile grape.
Lot 722 is a beauty – elegant yet robust, made in a dry style with light oak influence that is sure to please anyone who loves classic California Chardonnay. Aged for five months sur lie, the wine is produced by a multitalented gentleman who started his career as a sommelier in Michelin starred restaurants before taking his palate to the winemaking side of the industry.
Light and easy to drink summer wine
I usually do not drink white wines, but I found this wine to be very nice. Great with a light summer meal.
Light and easy “chef juice” for the cook.
Very nice wine
This is a nice, crisp white wine with nice floral aromas; a pleasant addition to a collection of whites to choose from.
A Real Find
Unique wine....not your typical light, off dry California or South African chenin blanc but rather a dry well balanced wine with a touch of oak.
The wine struck me as sweet at first, but it really just was the hint of pear at the front. Enough oak to satisfy me, as I am a fan of oaky buttery chardonnays. Much lighter than a chard and very drinkable.
A crisp, nice sipping wine .
Crisp, nice sipping wine which is a great alternative to Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc
Like variety of wines
Love the Chenin Blanc. Many years ago my go-to white. I'm mainly red wine fan, but like dry flinty whites like this. Great warm weather wine on the patio in the summer. Was popular back in the 70's-80's and I don't know what happened to it except it had no "fad" value. I like this old friends.
California Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc is my favorite white. I’m typically a red wine drinker. This offering is different from the South Africa Chenins, a tad lighter, but an enjoyable and excellent value!
Good every night wine.
This wine doesn't stand out but is a good wine with many different foods. It has a bouquet that I remember from the 70's & like but now we have much more complex wines. Maybe that's why I like it--it's simple. It's worth the price in my book. I like variety & it's good to switch from Italians, to Napa Chards, to NZ sauv blanc. It's worth the price.
New warm weather fave
This has a very good blend of light, grassy, apple, soft white fruit. When it’s a warm afternoon, this is a refreshing choice.
