Chenin Blanc, the white grape of the central Loire Valley, didn’t used to be such a rare bird stateside – prior to 2000, it was actually planted quite widely in California. Alas, most wineries gradually realized there was better return on investment producing Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc. However, the last few years have seen a bit of a domestic resurgence of this is a supremely versatile grape.
Lot 722 is a beauty – elegant yet robust, made in a dry style with light oak influence that is sure to please anyone who loves classic California Chardonnay. Aged for five months sur lie, the wine is produced by a multitalented gentleman who started his career as a sommelier in Michelin starred restaurants before taking his palate to the winemaking side of the industry.
I had never tried this varietal before. It was crisp. I would get again if they had it.
This chenin was crisp and slightly effervescent, and had smooth mellow aromas of pears and white flowers.
This is a refreshing, smooth Chenin blanc! A hint of pear, with just a pinch of dry. A great way to toast a summer sunset!!
Light dry white
This is my first time trying this varietal. Very light and dry with apple, pear, and light lemon flavors. A decent white but I think I would like more body. It’s always interesting to try something new and CH always has good variety.
so just tried this and now found out it is gone. was very good , dry and great value. hope cam buys again
Nice and Dry
We really enjoyed this white for a change, it was dry and well balanced. Looking forward to more Chenin Blanc from CH.
delicious wine, complex flavors, better than the normal white!
Very Nice Chenin
This is a great wine, especially for the price. You will notice multiple types of fruit on the nose and palate, not just the usual citrus. The oak and acidity are well balanced. It has a lasting finish.
Never had this wine before, but it was a nice crisp wine. It' s little bit on the sweeter side, but still refreshing
One of my favorites
This Chenin Blanc is one of my favorites. It is light and dry. Perfect for sipping and great with lighter dishes! Looking forward to it being back in stock.
