Wine Details
Boisterous nose of raspberry and plum with hints of sage and violet. The palate is rich with blackberry and ripe plum notes that meld beautifully with the tannins. Long finish redolent with fruit and chocolate, and a fantastic black pepper note that really only comes out with significant air. Clearly, the pepper note will grow in the bottle. Rich yet racy, this is a dynamite Zinfandel with more complexity than you would ever expect at this price point.

Lot 429 comes from 30-40 year old vines just up the valley from the famed Monte Rosso Vineyard (I throw that in there not because the soils are similar, but really to give you an idea of where the vineyard is – Monte Rosso is in a league of its own). Part of a grapes-to-wine partner program with the grower (who gets $2500-$3000/ton, which equates to $25-$30/bottle), the wine was produced and barrel aged (100% French oak) under our watchful eye at a winery in Alexander Valley.
