Right out of the bottle, it greets you with an engaging nose of sweet blossom, dark cherry and blackberry fruit framed against loamy volcanics, cassis and a lovely wood spice character that halos the nose beautifully. Velvety tannins underpin plump yet delineated fruit in a mouthwatering finish of cassis, blackberry and loam – silky smooth. I’d call this a more feminine (and I should also say “electric”) expression of Cabernet, with pristine fruit flavors and moderate alcohols (by Napa standards) but with all the complexity you’ve come to expect from Napa Cabernet. Trust me, you won’t miss the massive tannins.

This wine is sourced from two outstanding vineyards: one in Coombsville, and the other in Conn Valley (an incredible site sandwiched in-between Harlan/Bond’s vineyards Quella and Melbury, and one of my favorite wineries in Napa). The final blend saw tiny bits of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Merlot components from our Stagecoach Vineyard program. Nothing but the best went into this bottle of Cabernet, folks – this is a ridiculously and imminently pleasurable Cabernet with the highest pedigree, and an astonishing value at $32. This is the real deal, and given the current pricing levels we’re currently seeing in Napa, Lot 602 easily compares to Cabs three times its price.
