Wine Details

The wine is ripe and concentrated and certainly a more masculine style with an intense nose of plum, spice, blueberries and black pepper. Simultaneously floral and dense on the palate with flavors of macerated berries and gamey rose petals. This wine is meaty with tremendous depth, richness and pitch-perfect balance, sharing much of the transparent structure attributed to wines from the Rhône Valley.

Lot 354 hails from 2010, another acclaimed, classic vintage of the Rhône. A couple bucks more than our other Crozes offerings, but I believe you’ll find the increase in quality more than enough to cover the additional tariff.

Only 3 bottles in the cellar? Wish I had bought more. Held true to the description.

Thursday Taco Night wine! Popped and poured, 64F in good goblets. Nice medium red. 13.5% abv according to the label, which cheerfully describes the wine as 'monumental'. But the label also mentions violets on the nose, and guess what, both the SO and I pick that up. Cool. A sliver of Cote Rotieness for $15! To me, I rarely drink Crozes Hermitage, and even then, its usually something that another person has brought, and then its usually serious stuff like PJA Thalabert single vineyard etc -- so my memory has always been that they were more zesty that I could normally appreciate. So this, to me, is true to the acidic nature I expect, but it goes perfectly with beef soft tacos. Some tar on the nose too. It starts out well, but fades a little bit after a few hours in glass, so maybe should be drunk now. This may be gone from retail channels at this point, but its a nice value for a change of pace from a Cotes du Rhone. It gets a B, and I should note its food friendliness. I'll keep an eye out for this negociant's work in the Rhone; my local markets carry some of their wines.

Lot 354 is a fantastic Syrah from Crozes Hermitage. Deep and dark, you simply cannot find a better value from this under-appreciated region in France.

Aromas of red berry fruit, briar. Ripe cherry and plum fruit with mild pepper, good body mild tannin and enough acid to balance. A lovely wine at a great price.

Excellent wine! It's sold out? Nooooooooooooo! We bought a case when Cameron first offered it. Thank goodness.

Excellent wine with a nice finish. Most customers are probably looking at California wines but this Syrah from France is an outstanding value at under $20/bottle.

Great balance, smoothness and it does not need hours to open. Had it twice at Lawry's with prime rib and 10 out of 10 guests asked for the label!

A very deep dark red with a pleasant plum and ripe berry aroma, light oak and a slight earthy on the taste. My wife (a white wine drinker) and I (a red wine drinker) both found it to be pleasant and better with each sip, even without aerating. Would purchase again.

Approachable and charming now, with aging potential. This just gets better in the glass as it opens up. Berry flavors, with a touch of savory meat and spice, this is food friendly. An excellent value!
