Wine Details
Opens with beeswax, blossom, and honeyed pear notes. The salinity and seashell arrive shortly after opening, and are more apparent on the palate where they combine with a lemony/chalky minerality in a long, pure finish. As mouthwatering a wine as you’ll find, and delicious with oysters and shellfish as you can imagine.

Louis Métaireau is a Loire Valley legend, instrumental (along with a small group of “vignerons d’art”) in restoring the reputation of Muscadet in the middle of the century. His Grand Mouton vineyard (now run by his daughter Marie-Luce and her husband Jean Francois) is as close to Premier/Grand Cru as you’ll find in the Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine region; here old vines in granitic and flaky amphibolite soils conspire to produce wines with tremendous minerality and freshness, offering a compelling brew of crunchy seashell, citrus/stonefuit and fresh ocean breeze aromas. The Métaireau Muscadet Petite Mouton is sourced from 37 year old vines and aged sur lie.
