Pouring classic deep ruby, the nose rides the wind with unmistakable black cherry and currant bolstered by hints of charcoal, cedar, and toffee. The entry is still showing signs of restrained youth, but a healthy decant welcomes red fruits, crushed florals, sweet tobacco leaf, black pepper, and new leather against medium acidity and well-integrated, medium tannins. The finish is expectedly long with resonance that seems to carry on forever, molding from vanilla to dark fruits to barrel spices and folding back over itself multiple times in an umami-bomb of Napa excellence.

Our marquee release of 2018, Lot 666, was the best of two regarded Napa worlds: established Rutherford winemaker and winery with diurnal swing king Calistoga’s fruit. Today’s offering is another acquisition from the same source winery and winemaker, however, showcasing all of Napa has to offer, high and low altitude. Originally produced and destined for a tasting room only program, March of 2020 and beyond had other plans for items like this. Enter your favorite sourcing team!
Lot 857 is a blend of Rutherford, Calistoga, Oakville, and Mount Veeder fruit (not necessarily in that order), expertly blended at one of the premier and instantly recognizable Napa Benchlands wineries. Bolstered by a no expense spared barrel program, and the deft hand of a seasoned Valley winemaker, the wine is aged in barrel for 12-18 months before being produced in a high-end, modern facility with the goal of producing an unmistakable bombshell of Napa pedigree. Mission accomplished.
