Wonderfully golden on the pour, the nose leaps from the glass with lemon blossoms, yellow apples, and Asian pear. The entry checks all the California Chard hallmarks: great weight, medium acidity, a balanced presence of oak, and all the toffee, apples, pears, barrel-kissed spices, and citrus notes you'd expect. The finish has excellent length, is clean, and rich with resonant waves of butter, toast, and almond.

CHW Confidential
Awarded AVA status in 1987, the Sonoma Coast is far reaching, from the wind-swept northern regions (where today’s gem hails from) to the southern dairy lands, it spans the entire county. Many on this list are aware of the highly awarded wines this region produces year after year, largely Burgundian varieties, all aided by the Pacific Ocean’s direct influence, so with great excitement we offer this archetypal example, per usual, at a stellar price for you.
Lot 849 comes to us from a well-known and highly decorated house in the region, fetched from their “Reserve” single-vineyard juice for a program that routinely captures north of $50/bottle. Sur lie aged for over 12 months in 100% French Oak and benefitting from one of the coldest and windiest exposures in the region, year-over-year the fruit from this site makes for some of the most incredibly balanced juice in the whole AVA.
At $17/bottle, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better 2020 Chardonnay value from the entirety of the Sonoma Coast.
