Long in the legs and showing pitch-perfect extraction, the wine pours a deep ruby with a transparent core. Each swirl coaxes aromas of cherries, violets, cassis berries, freshly ground coffee beans, and red soils out of the glass – a dynamic rarely found outside of Washington state. The palate seizes your attention with red fruits, new leather, grippy tannins, and medium+ acidity, all framed by a premium oak regime. The finish is long and impressively dry, leaving a resonant umami of cassis and vanilla. You’ll find this wine equally at home with a steak as with a braised roast – bonus points for using a bit of this in the braising sauce to complete the pairing cycle.

Cam Confidential
Lot 846 is a consummate New World expression of Cab Franc: deeply extracted with full phenolic ripeness, featuring a perfect balance of fruit-forwardness with a touch of Euro-leaning terroir – a combination rarely found outside Washington state. 2018 was one of the warmest local growing seasons on record, with a fortuitous dip in temperatures in September that locked in the acidity and resulted in one of the most balanced (and critically top rated) vintages the region has ever seen. This wine sees 48 hours of cold soaking before pressing directly to barrel, and was aged in 30% new French oak for 12 months under the watchful eye of the same gentleman that provided us with Lot 847 Syrah – one of our favorite winemakers in all of the PNW.
Scoring 90-92 under its original label from Spectator and Enthusiast in the previous vintage, this is an even better wine and a scorching deal at half the winery price!
