Pouring a pale straw color, the nose is vibrant with lime, gooseberry, crushed jasmine, and hints of white pepper. The entry is defined by gooseberry and kaffir lime, sliced through with bright acidity, fresh minerality, and peaking with a ginger spice as it moves to a clean, dry finish that echoes with a slate-leaning terroir. While eminently quaffable on its own, this particularly stands out for its perfect pairing alongside seafood (especially fresh shellfish), but would also be a perfect accompaniment to a Cobb salad or any array of pastas in white sauces.

Lot 845 comes to us from an estate on the east side of the Yakima River, produced from 40-year-old vines planted in silt loam soils that yield grapes with ripe character and an abundance of minerality and natural acidity. Made in a Bordeaux-leaning style by a winemaker that Advocate, Spectator, Enthusiast, and the other major publications seemingly can’t stop gushing over, this is a wine that deftly bridges the gap between Old and New World styles – you’ll find elements of both our New Zealand and California Sauv Blanc offerings in this release. All in all, a delicious crowd-pleasing showcase of what Yakima has to offer and one of the best food-pairing white wines we’ve come across all year.
