Deep ruby on the pour with long legs in the glass, the aromatic introduction is warm and comforting, showcasing spiced orange peel and brambles with a kiss of pyrazines. The palate is a wonderful exhibit of Washington terroir – sun-exposed ripe fruit with plenty of depth and structure, backed by nuances of toffee and new leather. The tannins are present and firm, framing a finish of excellent length that leaves you with hints of black tea and resonant florals. Time to prepare a steak dinner!

Lot 843 is a gem produced from hilltop vines planted in silt loam soils on the western edge of the Columbia Valley AVA. Aged for just under two years in French oak before bottling, the wine was crafted by the deft hands of a gentleman with over two decades of local PNW winemaking experience (and a cabinet full of WS/WA accolades to boot). The prestige of Washington state wine may be ever-growing, but for now there are few places in the country you’ll find better quality and value for price when it comes to Bordelaise varietals – perfect for opportunists like us that love nothing more than finding wines that over-deliver on both.
