Lot 840 | Non-Vintage Italy

Last year, the Prosecco DOC Consortium announced that in its latest updated rules, Prosecco Rosé had been unanimously approved! Under the new guidelines, it still must be produced using Glera grapes, but will also include 10-15% of Pinot Nero (aka Pinot Noir) to add a hint of red fruit and that lovely pink glow. Ranging from “Brut Nature” to “Extra Dry,” it’s a wine that the Italians are quite bullish on – the DOC expects 30 million bottles to be produced in its inaugural year.

Lot 840 comes to us from a winery in the heart of eastern Veneto, located between the Treviso Hills and the Adriatic Sea. Steeped in tradition passed down over many generations, the winemakers hand selected the best local grapes to produce this “Extra Dry” DOC selection of 85/15 Glera/Pinot Nero, naturally fermented for 60 days before bottling (think of it as Italy’s answer to Blanc de Noirs, but with a pink twist). Whether as a solo sipper or alongside caviar, fish, and white meats, this wine just oozes Venetian refinement.

Recently certified for international export, this is obviously a newly greenlit product for the world stage. Odds are, we’re one of the first places in the US you’ve seen it available – drink with confidence!
