CHW Confidential
A bold, full-bodied grape with thick skins and an abundance of tannins, Tannat originated in the Basque region but has since found its way to the US and all across South America (Uruguay even considers it the national grape). Its profile is growing – Tannat has appeared in the Wine Spectator annual top 100 fairly recently, and it’s also a sleeper hit among the health conscious due to it being one of the most antioxidant-rich grapes in the world.
Lot 806 comes to us from a seventh-generation family winery located in Clarksburg wine country right by the Sacramento River. Produced from certified sustainable vineyards and aged for three years in oak before bottling, this is a terrific find that fans of big, heavy reds will love adding to their rotation.
