Wine Details
Showing long legs and medium garnet on the pour, the wine welcomes you with a nose of cherry and raspberry fruit underscored by granite, dried herbs, stewed tomatoes, and a hint of cola. The entry is the perfect balance of Old World-meets-new, with vibrant acidity amplifying a cherry-forward fruit profile accentuated by small, dusty tannins. The finish is appropriately terroir-dominated, expressing spice, herbs, fresh-turned soils and a kiss of milk chocolate. A pristine dinner wine through and through – the second it hits your senses, you'll know.

Lot 804 comes to us from an absurdly gorgeous estate located in the Pisan Hills to the west of Chianti that receives the best exposure in the area. Hand-picked, fermented, and aged for 12 months in French oak, this wine is a smooth blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot that could be described as a “Super Tuscan for the American wine drinker” – fruit forward with dusty tannins, while still showcasing plenty of terroir and radiating old-world character. With local buildings here dating back centuries before the birth of Christ, it seems fitting that a fantastic expression of modern Italian winemaking be produced from these same ancient soils – a link to both the past and the future. Destined to be a big hit with Italophiles and New World aficionados alike, it's a crowd pleaser and exquisite food-pairing wine that would be fit to grace anything from a black-tie event to a simple spaghetti night.
