Calistoga is one of the few remaining places that still resembles the Napa Valley of old – a little town that’s only accessible via two-lane roads and actually bans fast food franchises by law to preserve its historic charm. World-famous hot springs aside, it also has the highest percentage of volcanic soils in the valley and experiences its most extreme diurnal swing – a temperature shift that provides the grapes excellent acid retention and overnight recovery. Unsurprisingly, a number of iconic wineries can be found in this AVA.
Lot 775 comes to us from a terrific fifth-generation wine producer, crafted to show classic Napa terroir and an obvious French lean by its winemaker’s deft hands. Despite plenty of volcanic soil influence, this is a fine wine with elegant extraction – an old school Cabernet from an old school part of the valley.
Smooth and rich
I thought this one was a little rough around the edges the first day but very much improved on the second. Full body, rich flavors and complex aromas which are still developing. Should be pretty fantastic with a little age.
Lighter and most others we have had
Nice, but slightly lighter in color and complexity than many other we have bought from this site.
I found this wine to be absolutely delicious. I will say that the mouth feel is a bit light. But, the nose just goes on and on. I think, as the wine opens up that there is a lot of spice character. And the finish is bone dry.
Elegant and lovely, old school cabernet. Pairs beautifully with food.
How sweet it is!
Oh what a wonderful wine! Silky and smooth. A mouthful of joy.
As classic as a cab can be. Mmmmm! I am ordering more.
Beautifully Balanced Wine
This is one of my favorite wines that CH has found in a couple of years. Wonderful fruit balanced by some acidity and plush tannins. Drinkable now, but will cellar well for a few years, if you are the patient sort.
High end taste!
Very impressive bold cab for the price. I would compare this to some $100 plus wines I have been privileged to enjoy. Great value for the money.
Long Finish and More Complex Than Normal
I've only been buying wine from Napa for 5 years now, but wow, this wine was different than most I've had out of Calistoga. Complex and provides a great, long finish that leaves you wanting more. Highly recommend!

Good, but we've had better for less $$$
Nice jammy nose, but attack and mid-palate is nothing special. Lasting finish with gripping tannins. (Which we like) Not a bad wine, but we've had better wine for less money. Better value is out there.

Tasty Elegant Cabernet
We really liked this wine, it is one of the most elegant wines we have had. This well balanced wine has a elegant etherial
flavor ( no doubt from the volcanic soils and the lower than usual 13.5% alcohol ) that just demands you to take sip after sip.
It is a great food wine that is approachable now with an hour of decant. Being a 2017 it is already a year ahead of Cameron’s new 2018 releases. This wine will get even better in the next couple of years.
