Nestled within the southern end of the Santa Lucia mountain range, the Adelaida District AVA is located at the highest point of Paso Robles wine country and is home to some of the oldest vineyards on California’s central coast. Here, mountain vines grow their roots deep into rocky calcareous soils, bathed in warm Paso Robles air by day and cool Pacific breezes by night to produce some of the finest grapes on California’s central coast – especially Rhône varietals like Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre.
Lot 768 comes to us from a very picturesque estate whose winemaker trained at French houses before making the natural transition to crafting Rhône varietals stateside. Unsurprisingly, the trophy cabinet here is full of top scores and gold medals galore collected over the past decade. A superbly balanced wine in its youth that already shines today with a healthy decant, this is an exceptionally tasty example of how great American Grenache can be - available here for less than half the tasting room price!
