Mendocino delivers seriously terrific quality for price. It’s home to an eclectic mix of small family wineries on California's North Coast, bordered by redwood forests to the east and a rugged coastline to the west. Famous Napa and Sonoma wineries have been augmenting their wines with Mendo fruit for quite some time now, but some of the appellations within Mendocino have emerged as stars in their own right while still maintaining relatively approachable prices – the Anderson Valley, Mendocino Ridge, and Yorkville Highlands AVAs are particularly renowned for their quality.
Lot 766 comes to us from a family winery that’s been growing grapes for six generations (starting in the mid-1800s). 150 years later they’re still at it, guided by a “minimal intervention” winemaking philosophy and letting the fruit do its work. No complaints here – their wines are a fantastic expression of what this region has to offer, and we were happy to scoop up this small batch of 2018 Cab from their cellars.
drinking nicely right now
very accessible cab. drinking well now. at more "mid-week" price point and complexity.
Not up to CH par by a long way
All I can say I hope nothing else like this gets shipped to me again or you will lose a 15 year member.
Great with our charcuterie tray !
I have gotten several bottles from this region from CH and all have been fantastic!
ready to drink
Bought a case of this so I can let my napa cabs mature. Delicious on its own or with a meal.
Another nice Cab
This cab is ready to drink. Should have purchased more. Dark red color, full nose and lush mouthfeel. You will enjoy sipping this wine before, during or after dinner.
Great value for the price -will buy more
Not So Much
Sorry, but this one was just not good. Wish I had passed. Maybe it needs another few years or something. I could really tear this one apart, but I'm not going to. I think you get the picture. It was cheap though.
Great cab for every day. Wish it wasn't sold out!
Great value for money
A good big red without being overwhelming (as yet). I was able to get a case so over the next several years I will be looking at this one for rare roast beef and similar. Nice nose and easy taste with good finish.
