Located in the rolling hills at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 1500-3000 above sea level, the Sierra Foothills AVA has a history of viticulture dating back to the Gold Rush era of the 1840s. It’s home to about 100 wineries (mostly boutique and family-owned), almost all of which are too small to be picked up by national distributors. This is where our reach and access really shines!
Lot 765 comes to us from a winery located high in the El Dorado sub-region of the Sierra Foothills, right in the heart of California Gold country. Produced from 45+ year old estate vineyards planted at 3000ft, the wine was crafted by a winemaker who has tended these vines for over 30 years, and spent a year in oak before bottling. Showing plenty of backbone and mountain terroir, it’s now ready to impress at your table. This is the very definition of a California hidden gem.
Really nice Zin at an amazing price
Compared to the Dry Creek Zin, this is not as fruit forward, and drier. Tannins are a bit more noticeable. All that said, it is a lovely wine . It just strikes the balance a little on the more structured side of the equation than the Dry Creek.
I like it
I ama Zin fan and this one I cheer for
This is a nice everyday Zin. Really glad you started finding Zins
Great substitute for the Lodi Zinfandel
We were sorry to see that the Lodi Zinfandel was no longer available (we hoarded as many as we could), but the arrival of the Sierra Foothills Zin has given us a worthy successor. Full bodied, fruit-forward, and with a pleasant finish despite the 15.2% alcohol level.
Love this Zin. Perfect on a cool summer night
I really enjoy this zin. Nice color, nose, a good variety of flavors and with a good aster taste
Lovely Zin with great flavor and body
Really good value and enjoyed it. More on the heavy side
Good Zin for the $
Very nice zinfandel. Nice color and nose. Excellent value.
More structure than the dry creek Zin. Still a lovely wine for those who prefer a wine that is not a fruit bomb, and has a balance of fruit, acidity and tannin to make for a memorable dinner
