Located in the rolling hills at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 1500-3000 above sea level, the Sierra Foothills AVA has a history of viticulture dating back to the Gold Rush era of the 1840s. It’s home to about 100 wineries (mostly boutique and family-owned), almost all of which are too small to be picked up by national distributors. This is where our reach and access really shines!
Lot 765 comes to us from a winery located high in the El Dorado sub-region of the Sierra Foothills, right in the heart of California Gold country. Produced from 45+ year old estate vineyards planted at 3000ft, the wine was crafted by a winemaker who has tended these vines for over 30 years, and spent a year in oak before bottling. Showing plenty of backbone and mountain terroir, it’s now ready to impress at your table. This is the very definition of a California hidden gem.
Like this wine
I really like this wine. Not jammy but fruit forward. So glad to have found this since #730 and #636 have been sold out.
Zins from this region have a unique body about them. My favorites come from Amador County and this Zin has the same characteristics
Always smooth, deep and hearty
I'm no wine expert, but this Zinfandel continues to impress. It is exactly as advertised by the Cameron Hughes representatives. I've ordered this batch and multiple others over the last year. For the price, i've not found anything i like better.
One note played expertly.
This isn't a subtle wine. It has a raspberry hit on the front end that follows through to the end. That said, it's a beautiful wine with great flavor and and excellent price point. I'll order more for entertaining those who want a good wine but don't know how to appreciate some of the better offerings.
I normally would not pick up a Zin, I know now I should reconsider that. Enjoyed this on a warm night on the deck.
Fantastic weekday wine. Decanted for 1hr and enjoyed with steak. Very approachable Zin for non wine lovers, but has enough structure to please the enthusiast. Has some jam but is nicely balanced and not at all overwhelming on the palette with a faint finish of spice and smoke...nice! Not much you'd be able to buy in a store or order in a restaurant that even approaches this for the same price.
Another quality Zin at an affordable price which made this the best wine deal on the site ! Thanks CH Wines.
Really nice Zin at an amazing price
Compared to the Dry Creek Zin, this is not as fruit forward, and drier. Tannins are a bit more noticeable. All that said, it is a lovely wine . It just strikes the balance a little on the more structured side of the equation than the Dry Creek.
I like it
I ama Zin fan and this one I cheer for
This is a nice everyday Zin. Really glad you started finding Zins
