Despite being most famous for its Nebbiolo offerings, Piedmont’s #1 most planted and widely produced red wine is actually Barbera. A super drinkable, robust, versatile and food-friendly wine with no need for extended cellaring before hitting its peak, the Barbera produced here is the everyday wine of the Italian people (when they’re not drinking Chianti from Tuscany), and is consumed just about everywhere at all times of the day.
Produced from DOCG vineyards in the heart of the Asti region of Piedmont - if you tried Lot 710 last year, this offering has a bit more structure and more mellow acidity – probably a reflection of a slightly different harvest time.

Solid
Aroma is dark berry, with some light florals. Relatively light body, solid acidity. Flavor is more leather than berry, with tannins overlaying. Not a mind blowing wine, but balanced, interesting, and easy drinking for the money. Better as it opens up a bit.

best value
For a young Barbera, very impressive. Cherries throughout with a nice soft finish.

Go-To Red with Italian Food
The description of this is right on target - it is just about the most food friendly red we've had in a while. Have always loved Barberas and glad Cam was able to source one at a great price. Only tough decision is whether to drink it with lasagna, eggplant parmesan, spaghetti with meat sauce, or brick oven pizza!

Cam Confidential says “ the Barbera produced here is the everyday wine of the Italian people” ... I’m ordering a couple cases so I can make it the everyday wine of this Italian American. We loved everything about this bottle!

Great table wine
Interesting, I am the first one to write a review, and this wine is already low stock. Well, I did not give this wine time to relax after being transported by truck from Ohio to New York. Straight out of the bottle, this is a very nice and dry table wine. It paired beautifully with linguini and mushroom sauce. This is a marvelous every day wine to pair with dinner.
