Cam Confidential
Located near the cooling waterways of the Sacramento River Delta, Clarksburg is home to vineyards planted to dense clay and loam soils that receive fog and breezes from the San Francisco Bay. Microclimates here are similar to ones found in Napa and Sonoma to the west, and an open secret is that a number of high-profile wineries from these more prestigious regions purchase Clarksburg grapes (a common practice with less-famous appellations that have the quality but not the name recognition).
Lot 739 comes to us from a family estate that’s been farming the region for generations. Aged in oak for four years, this is really great wine that those of you with Old World-tuned palates will undoubtedly be quite happy with. It’s a terrific American expression of an Italian icon, and also one of our most limited releases of the year. Yours for half the original winery price.

Different but interesting
The wine in translucent red with a hint of brick in the glass. The taste is much fuller than the color would predict. The aromas reveal themselves a little at the time – black licorice and violets, in comes the plum butter followed by a finish of fresh raspberries. The Nebbiolo is quite different of the more typical American reds. My husband, who is American, loves it. I, the European, need some getting used to it, but that is not too difficult.

Wow!!
I was unfamiliar with this variety, but I am certainly glad I gave it a try. Fortunately, I was able to reorder in time!

Hit the spot
Only bought one of these on a whim and so disappointed in myself now that it’s out of stock! Really great wine, as promised and went very well with some Thai roast duck. Would love to get more of this if it comes back!

Spicy Goodness!
Great wine, but a little spicy for a Nebbiolo!

I wish it weren't sold out
We bought a half case and that was a mistake. I should have gone with a full case. We are big fans of Italian reds, and this Nebbiolo was right on point. This was our first nebbiolo not from Italy. More of this, please, Cam

Very Good to Excellent
Nose gives you a combination of fruit and petroleum. The taste is a stronger fruit and recessive tar like taste. The tannins were very tight. On Cam's write-up we bought a whole case of the Nebbiolo and feel we will be happy we did. Went very well with BLTs and a tomato, okra, and fresh corn in a green pepper, onion and bacon grease saute. Has a much bigger mouth feel that we had expected.

Very fruit forward
I'm a huge fan of nebbiolo, especially the Italian barbarescos which often highlight terroir as much as fruit. 739 is very heavy on the fruit and not much else. Its good with a pizza or burger, but won't be particularly ageworthy
