The first thing you'll notice is the incredible extraction – almost looks like a Cab in the glass. The nose pulls you deep into the glass with blue fruits, dark chocolate, black cherries, and vanilla. The palate is a showcase of winemaking talent: pyrazines, red fruit, soft tannins, deft balance, great acidity, chocolatey goodness…this is very much a Merlot for Cab drinkers through and through. The finish is long, vanilla-tinged, and wrapped in new leather with a hint of delicate spice on the final umami waves.
A rich, satisfying Merlot that our entire team was ecstatic about acquiring. We were surprised that this wine was even made available – if it was the other way around, none of this wine would be leaving our cellars. Alas, supply and demand is what it is, and we pounced on this opportunity the second we tasted it. Sourced from a critically acclaimed winery that’s been at it for decades under the same family, the wine was produced from hillside vineyards and barreled in a combination of French and American oak, and is a total steal at this price.
