Lot 730 is a step up in refinement from your average Lodi Zin. Sourced from an esteemed producer home to numerous parcels of Lodi’s famous old vines, this is a wine that punches way above its weight class, showcasing a 70/30 split of fruit and terroir that deftly maintains the bold edge you’d expect from a Lodi red. Aged for just under a year in French oak before bottling, this is really good juice – alluring, nuanced, and an outstanding value at about half the original winery price!
A Zin Bargain
Compared to Lot 636, it like this one even more. The other was a little bitter at first. The color is inky at the top of the glass and a translucent plum at the bottom. The red berries and leather are easy to find. The tannins are silky, with a lingering finish. It is a bargain at $13.
CH Zins never let you down...
Smoking Zin that was smooth with just enough bite. And the price...incredible value for a wine this good!!
No decant. Earthy stone, subtle plumb, raspberry and cigar tobacco taking priority on the nose. Perhaps it's the terrior when mentioning "Archetypal", perhaps it's the seemingly perfected blend, but this wine exhibits a very long finish and delicate balance of pleasant earthy raspberry, cigar tobacco, leather, some plum, with a hint of wet stone delivered on a mouth watering adventure with good balance of acidity, tannin's and just enough oak that it's almost unnoticeable. It's as if you can choose what you like most on your palate and it will be there well beyond your next sip. Excellent value at 13 a bottle. Should hold for a few years easy.
Glad I tried it
Usually drink cab but decided to give this a try. Very glad I did.
Love Lodi Zins
With the first taste, I knew this wine was destined to be one of my favorites to pair with bold food flavors.
Props from a cab drinker
I usually bought your Lodi Cabernet, but it's no longer available. Bought this Zin based on the Lodi location. I'd like to be able to wax poetic about how it's fruity or smokey or a hint of blueberries mixed with rose petals, but alas I can not. I've never been able to make sense of any of these wine descriptive terms. My bad or uneducated nose and palette. Oh well, suffice it to say this lot 730 is very enjoyable at a great price. Buy it and write a review with the appropriate adjectives.
I'm usually a bold cab drinker, but this Zinfandel is delicious, smooth, yet robust and a good price too.
We've never been disappointed with a CH Zin. Will be ordering more of this Lot.
Lot 730 is a very nice Zin and the price is surprising given the taste. Smooth and easy for friends that are not red wine drinkers.
My wife has fallen in love with Zins and this wine hits the spot
