Lot 725 is sourced from a pioneering, family-owned estate that’s one of the oldest not just in the RRV but all of Sonoma (with a storied winegrowing history dating back to pre-Prohibition). Produced by a winemaker with top pedigree and over a decade of experience in both the Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys, the wine is aged for over a year in oak and is showing marvelously already.
Absolutely gorgeous nose, bold yet quaffable, under-$20 pricing from an elite appellation…what’s not to love? This is first class Zinfandel at an outstanding quality for price.
A Very Good Find
I don’t drink a lot of Zin, but this was happy to have selected this one. Well worth the money.
I have to give this one a little time. I could not get around to finding it delicious but I believe it has what it takes. I wish I had purchased more to see how it evolves.
Great wine and excellent value as always with CH!
Very enjoyable zinfandel, rich but not jammy.
A good zin
I really enjoyed this wine.
This was an enjoyable change up from my usual Pinot Noir's. Wine club is always good for switching things up!
Zinfandel is my favorite wine and this one was packed with everything you expect in a zin. Had it with pizza and paired very well.
Liked it very much
I really enjoyed this wine. It was not as fruit forward as some of the other Zins that I have had from Cameron Hughes. However I liked the body and found it very enjoyable.
A New Favorite Zinfandel AVA?
I often aim my buys of Zinfandel toward Dry Creek, Shenandoah foothills, or Paso Robles. This Russian River Valley is a new zinfandel find for me - not jammy, yet dark and rich with a pleasantly smoky aftertaste. A serious, mouthful of wine which we enjoyed with beef and a tomato-based pasta sauce.
Really enjoyed the rich flavor of this wine. Sad I only got 1 bottle.
