Besides the infamy of being the location of that default Windows wallpaper, Los Carneros is most famous for producing some of the best cool-climate grapes in the world. Located in both Napa and Sonoma, the region is most widely known for its Pinot and Chardonnay vineyards, but there are pockets of microclimates that provide terrific conditions for Merlot and Syrah as well. Lot 713 comes to us from one such pocket, sourced from a small family winery owned by a third-generation farmer and produced by a winemaker with top pedigree who trained under one of the most legendary winemakers in the history of the industry. I scrambled to get my hands on this wine the moment it was made available to me, and I’m glad I could hit the “send” button before it reached any other potential bidders!
this merlot was better than I remembered. great mouth feel...viscous and flavorful with well integrated tannins. a great value
This is a medium to full-bodied Merlot. It is complex and flavorful with dark fruits and spices, balanced tannins and acidity – and excellent smooth red.
Really Nice wine
We love this one. It's easily drinkable and pairs well with pretty much everything!
Nothing to disappoint here! Let it open up a little & paired really well with a steak dinner! Yum!
This one packs a punch of flavor and power ! We drank a glass while preparing supper, and on an empty stomach , Wow you better give me an appetizer ! Overall we loved this wine.
Easy drinking merlot, I liked the dryness of it.
Based on some of the other reviews, I wasn't expecting this to wow me. But it indeed did!
It goes with everything!
There is so much dark cherry and red raspberry flavor to this merlot that I could have kept rolling it around my tongue forever. Really mellow and pleasing to everyone around our table. We had it with strip steaks the first night and chicken kabobs the second. I think this wine would pair with everything!
Let it breathe
The longer this merlot was open, the more I enjoyed it.
My initial impression of this wine was that it was very smooth. After being opened a day, I find the tannins are showing much more than at first. I found this Merlot to be a nice dark red. I smell black fruit on the nose. The taste is spicy with some strong tannins. Finish is dry.
