Besides the infamy of being the location of that default Windows wallpaper, Los Carneros is most famous for producing some of the best cool-climate grapes in the world. Located in both Napa and Sonoma, the region is most widely known for its Pinot and Chardonnay vineyards, but there are pockets of microclimates that provide terrific conditions for Merlot and Syrah as well. Lot 713 comes to us from one such pocket, sourced from a small family winery owned by a third-generation farmer and produced by a winemaker with top pedigree who trained under one of the most legendary winemakers in the history of the industry. I scrambled to get my hands on this wine the moment it was made available to me, and I’m glad I could hit the “send” button before it reached any other potential bidders!
I love this Merlot, definitely a reorder
Merlot to Make You Happy
Yet another CH merlot that hits it out of the park. I had hoped this Lot 713 would measure up to the expectations I'd formed after drinking last-year's Lot 641. I was not disappointed. Raspberry and other ripe fruit overtones blended seamlessly with hints of spice (clove, cinnamon?). Great mouthfeel and smooth tannic, tobacco-y finish. I need to order more of this already!
A Merlot with depth and structure
This Merlot has a really deep purple hue in the glass with very nice thin legs. The nose is plummy with anise and blueberry notes. On the initial palate I get inky dark berries, some iodine, black tea and really nice gentle tannins. The mid palate is a bit more gripping with the fine grained tannins, they start to cling to the gums. Black cherry and more plum are hitting me up with some slight oak notes. The finish is a touch dusty with some spice box and leather. Plums are my main theme with this wine and the tannic structure is really good. Juicy, dry and built for the medium haul. I like this wine- it's easy going yet has some depth and structure to it. Drink till 2027. 91 points from mer and at $18 a pop- 5 stars. Cellar some for later.
We are huge Cab fans, but decided to try this merlot based on other reviews. For the price this is an outstanding bottle. Much bigger and fuller bodied than I expected. Liked so much we just reordered more. Fantastic finish and great mouth feel.
I loved lot 641 Pacines. So figured I'd give this a try. Very enjoyable Merlot. Different nose and mouthfeel from 641. I thought the Oak was very nice touch on this wine.
cherry, raspberry, vanilla and plum with a hint of cigar box on the nose. It's obviously still too young, and is more enjoyable on day 2 if you must open now. Likely to age nicely and reward those who are patient - two to three years I'm guessing

This is a great Merlot . I need to get another case before it goes ...
Smooth flavorful Merlot. Very enjoyable wine at an excellent price.
I did not expect to much from this wine since I am not famillar with Carneros wine. What a pleasent suprise wine I took my first sip.
Thought it was great, especially for the $$. My wife thought there was a very slightly tart after taste but I didn’t pick that up.
