CHW Confidential
Despite being most famous for its Nebbiolo offerings, Piedmont’s #1 most planted and widely produced red wine is actually Barbera. A super drinkable, robust, versatile and food-friendly wine with no need for extended cellaring before hitting its peak, the Barbera produced here is the everyday wine of the Italian people (when they’re not drinking Chianti from Tuscany), and is consumed just about everywhere at all times of the day.
Produced from DOCG vineyards in the heart of the Asti region of Piedmont, this is on the darker side of the spectrum for Barbera, stylistically combining the zip of Asti with the robustness of Alba. Produced largely in stainless steel, with a small portion going to neutral barrel.
