Sourced from one of the most renowned and venerated wine-growing districts in the world. Low yields per vine are required to obtain good sugar levels, intense color, and the fullest flavor extraction. Traditional fermentation is followed by malolactic fermentation and then laid to rest for 4 years of aging (hence the Riserva moniker; non-Riserva Barbaresco requires 2 years). From the best south-facing slopes in Barbaresco and with a good bit of barrel and bottle aging, Lot 692 is an Italian masterpiece.
Give me more!
13-year-old Barbaresco under $40.... Awesome. No its not the biggest most complex ever - but the quality is there, the age is there, just let it open up. I'll be ordering more before its gone.
Well integrated but it ends there.
I really wanted to love this wine. I got around the brittle cork issue and used a coffee filter to take care of the problem. On the taste though, there is no take off or story. It is very smooth very dry and consistent. For this price point, I just need more than something I would open up on a Tuesday. I say this with tremendous gratitude of the amazing wine experiences CH has provided for me! Will look forward to next adventure.
Let it breath and drink with food
Yes. The cork crumbles. Used a coffee filter to separate the cork. It is very dry, and intense fruit. Good wine and I want to love this, but I have to say that it just does not meet my enjoyment level that I have with the Zinfandel which are my favorite.
Great taste but defiantly let it breathe as it hasn’t in 13 years. The only downfall was the cork.
Smooth and Well-Balanced
The aged fruit surfaces on the nose along with elegant floral overtones. Deep blueberry and blackberry fruit with moderate tannins and a hint of oak and mineral shine through on the taste and finish. A smooth and well balanced wine.
was hesitant to spend the money without trying it first, had with beef was excellent. would highly recommend. will reorder next time!
A bottle of this red and a nice steak off the grill and you'll be in heaven!
Surprisingly enough, goes great with pasta!
