Acidic, harsh

We really didn't enjoy this at all. It had a very acidity note that didn't mellow over time.

Enjoyable Fruity Wine

This wine is smooth and fruity and very enjoyable. Has some nice tannin and acidity, so it isn't jammy. It is packed with flavor and is not too heavy. It is fun to have different varietals to enjoy. Also, the price is excellent.

Take with Food

Nice to see CH branching out to other varietals and some Cal-Italian wines.

New experience for me

Lot 690 was a new experience for me. I have never had a Barbera before. The color was a little richer thank I expected. More ruby than garnet (like I expected) . The nose was bigger than I expected because Barbera should be closer in body and color to a Sangiovese. There was a lot more fruit than I expected. More red fruits than black fruits. I had opened this to have with a slow cooked crock pot stew and it was the perfect match. The savory flavors of the stew matched well with the tannins and acidity of Lot 691. What Barbera that was left over the next day really opened up into something that I really enjoyed all by itself. Cam thank for opening us up to new experiences

Perfect with Pot Roast

Inky with dark berry and chocolate notes, we found it to be perfect with our pot roast dinner. Decanted it for a while as others had suggested, and it only tasted better as time passed that evening.

Best with food

Cal-Itals are hit & miss for me, and this was my first barbera from Amador. It was riper and heavier than Italian barbera, but it came alive with crisp, balancing acidity when paired with beef. This one definitely shines more with a meal than solo.

Good wine for a good price

Great wine for a good price. Pairs well with steak tacos.
