Wine Details
Deep and dark in the glass with a faint ruby rim, the wine punches up front with cassis, red berries, crushed florals, and a hint of graphite - no green on the nose here, folks. The palate resonates with leather, vibrant raspberries, bright acidity, and robust tannins, leading into a dry, grippy finish with lovely waves of French oak and plum. Classic, archetypal Alexander Valley Cabernet.

Sonoma continues to be the source of incredible values - Napa's larger, more laid back neighbor consistently offers stunning quality for price relative to its more famous counterpart. The Alexander Valley AVA is the largest and most fully planted wine region within Sonoma, and has been producing critically acclaimed Cabernet since Rodney Strong sold the first vineyard designated Sonoma Cab in the mid 70s. Barrel aged in 35% new French oak, Lot 686 comes to us from another California landmark that helped put Sonoma on the map - a producer I've admired since I entered the wine industry in the 90s.
