Terroir, terroir, terroir. The nose is redolent with earth and florals, almost to the level of a desirable perfume, haloed by dried sage and thyme. The aromatic undertones hint at blackberries and cassis, but upon entry, the earth and dried herbs dominate over small, firm tannins with almost no fruit to be found. The finish is the true definition of terroir. For those of you with patience, this one is definitely going to reward you with a few years in cellar.

Lot 681 is a true needle in a haystack that comes to us from the south of France. In the Languedoc, nestled in the Minervois AOC, is a sleepy farm village of less than 200 structures by the name of Cesseras, the entirety of which is centralized around two intersecting avenues. What makes this place so beautiful, though, isn't the rural nature of it (I mean, who hasn't dreamed of a life in rural France from time to time?), but the geography on which it lies. There are hectares upon hectares of southern-facing delineated vineyards as far as the eye can see. From the neighboring small village to the east, another to the west and beyond, it's vineyards everywhere – take a look on Google maps satellite view, you can see it from space!
