A big, rich, killer old vine Petite Sirah-Syrah blend that comes to us from a gentleman who has spent the last 30-40 years producing wine up there in Mendocino. Located north of Napa and Sonoma, bordered by a rugged coast to the west and redwood-blanketed mountains to the east, the region is home to an eclectic mix of about 100 small family-owned wineries that specialize in growing Mediterranean climate grapes like Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Zinfandel. Care to know an insider secret? High-end Napa and Sonoma wineries have been purchasing Mendo fruit to strengthen their wines for a long time now.
The quality for price found in this wine will blow you away.
I was unsure at first, next bottle, I thought this a really good tasting wine.
A VERY GOOD VALUE
A GOOD EVERY DAY WINE. PRICE TO VALUE OUTSTANDING. JUST ORDERED MORE.
Excellent Everyday Drinker
This one is perfect for an everyday wine. I bought a case when it became available and have tasted it against wines from other providers that sell for $17 to $22 and it stands up well. Cam called it, "The quality for price found in this wine will blow you away". What ever else I decide to purchase after tasting next weeks quarterly shipment, I will be including a couple more cases of this to enjoy well into fall. Cheers!
This would be my choice as a "daily drinker" that I can enjoy at home, when I don't feel I have to or want to impress guests with CH's more expensive/robust Cabs, of which I have a selection. One has to consider what one gets for what one pays. A Porsche/Ferrari and a VW Bug are very different, but you don't pay the same for each so you don't judge them by the same standards. I don't think wines are any different. Compares favorably with other CH Field Blends I have purchased in previous years. Not spectacular but enjoyable without being extravagant in cost. I prefer Syrah over Petite Sirah, which I consider less flavorfull/ robust. Good balance between the Syrah/Petite Sirah.
A bit too fruity
Love the full body but found it a bit too fruity. Still quite drinkable but probably wouldn’t buy again
Very nice wine. Would buy more!
Not a fan of the finish
Wasn’t a fan of this one. Been a member of Cameron Hughes for years, and this didn’t live up to the “standard” of Cameron Hughes. The bar has been set high, but this one didn’t get close. 3 stars because it’s inexpensive.
Big bold and wonderful
Just like the description says: big, rich, powerful red blend at an unbelievable price. Amazing full bodied, very smooth and perfectly blended. Definitely drinkable solo or paired with savory foods. Great find and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a wine that speaks to you.
A very very easy to drink wine. I think it's a bit more "red fruit"-ish compared to the previous CH field blends, but every bit as delicious. The price is right, too. Hopefully it's available for purchase soon.
