A big, rich, killer old vine Petite Sirah-Syrah blend that comes to us from a gentleman who has spent the last 30-40 years producing wine up there in Mendocino. Located north of Napa and Sonoma, bordered by a rugged coast to the west and redwood-blanketed mountains to the east, the region is home to an eclectic mix of about 100 small family-owned wineries that specialize in growing Mediterranean climate grapes like Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Zinfandel. Care to know an insider secret? High-end Napa and Sonoma wineries have been purchasing Mendo fruit to strengthen their wines for a long time now.
The quality for price found in this wine will blow you away.
Good but nothing special
Like every CH wine I've bought, nice value. A very drinkable wine but nothing special in my opinion
Improves Wonderfully with Age
First tried this a little over a year ago and gave it a 4. Fortunately bought more and held, till now. Had some last night and savoured the well balanced smoothness of it as well as the fruit sense that lingers and demands another sip.
If you’re reading this review go you, it means you want wine. Maybe we don’t like field blends, but this one had a lot of dirt in it for us. But alcohol is grand and maybe you’ll enjoy it!
Delicious w/Dark Turkey Meat & Mushroom and Wild Rice Casserole
The perfect match with our meal tonight. A very smooth and fruity (maybe a little cranberry!) accompaniment. It's medium weight complimented the earthy flavors of the casserole. Yum.
Excellent..will not keep this a secret!
A full bodied field blend
This was a great value if you love a full bodied wine. It stood up well to Chicken Cacciatore.
Went great with an after dinner truffle. Raspberry jam feel. The earthiness and smoke note are subtle. A nice Tuesday evening sipper.
Just ok. Good value
This was a good value for the price. I wouldn’t serve it to company, but it went well with a mid week Italian dinner.
Great everyday wine
Nice balance with good fruit. Light tannins. Day 2 very smooth. Very pleasant red cherry. Easy to drink alone, but has good structure
Not so much
Been buying CH wines for a bit now and this was not one of our favorites. Sorry.
