A Taje to remember
This is one of my top 10 under $30 bottles from CH ever. Love it! Well balanced, deep, full-bodied bomb! YUM!
Good wine needs too me
No doubt this is quality juice but it needs time.
I generally stay away from Meritage as they are often UFO’s - unidentified fruit objects - which is a danger in the $15-20 range as you end up with the he vintners stew of subpar grapes
I drank wine his immediately on arrival, contrary the o recommendations. Sort of like my barrel tasting. Austere out of our he bottle but was better the next day.
A worthy bottle but for me, the current meritage value is the 670 at $15.
I ran this wind thru an aerator into a decanter and let it sit for 2 hours before drinking. Deep, dark, ink staining juice. Really liked this wine a lot, despite the 15.7% abv it wasn't hot at all, very well masked. You could definitely tell the pedigree on this wine, great stuff.
Dark and balanced
Give it time in decanter to open up or more time in cellar. RIch dark blackberry, currants and earthy fruits with plenty of tannins to last for a while
Great CH Meritage
This wine is delicious. A little complex and I think it needs a little time but this one is a keeper. CH reds are such great value for the quality. I don't buy anywhere else. Well done !!
A full, fruit forward, delicious wine.
My wife and I truly enjoyed this one. Smooth and bold. I had to buy more and already recommended friends to buy it.
The new house red
This wine doesn't disappoint. With enough decant time to take off the edge it is everything I look for in a blend; full bodied, depth of flavors. At the price point I acquired two more cases in an attempt to make it last longer than a year
yeah, i ordered another case
So I ordered a case of this wine to have a "better" alternative behind the bar at my son's wedding(a few years back I did the same with the CH 400 2010 for my daughter's).
I tasted a bottle ahead of time "just to make sure." The problem was I really just wanted to keep it for me so I had to re-order.
The other"problem" is I don't think it will really be ready for a few years. I told the facility to open and decant the bottles 3 hours before dinner. Could have used a little more time but opened more as the night wore on. This is a full bodied wine that will be rewarded with some time. For the price its really a great value, the tannins will soften allowing the fruit to come out.
BTW still have 2 bottles of the 400 from 2010 in the cellar, they keep getting better.
I keep trying to find a meritage that comes close to a CH one I got at Costco five or six years ago. That one was more merlot based. So while this is a fantastic wine, it doesn't compare to that one. Wish I had bought cases of it at the time. That said, this is a top notch wine.
