A cool climate region located southeast of Monterey Bay with direct exposure to the Pacific Ocean, Arroyo Seco is one of California's smallest AVAs. The foggy and windy nature of the area, combined with low annual rainfall due to the rain shadow created by the Santa Lucia Mountains to the west, make it a perfect setting for Pinot Noir grapes.
Sourced from a high end winery program and aged for 15 months in oak barrels, Lot 656 punches way above its price point and is a surefire bet to be your go-to Pinot for any and every occasion.
Light and muscular is a difficult balancing act but pulled off perfectly here. Pinot is not normally high on my list but this one is outstanding. Pair with a roaring fire on a snowy day!
Great Price For This Pinot
Really enjoyed this wine. Glad we bought several bottles
A winner with all family members. My son, who is a Pinot Noir snob and usually only buys expensive bottles, declared it delicious. I personally much preferred it to the pricey bottle he brought to our last get together. My husband, who claims to dislike Pinot and prefers Cab also enjoys this wine. The rest of us will drink anything if it's tasty, think this is a lovely bottle of wine, especially at this price point. Very drinkable alone or with food. Like it enough to order two more cases!
A Surprise Find!
I have found that Pinot Noir (despite the movie Sideways) disappoints - not so this wonderful release. I took a flyer on it due to CH's description. The result was a delightful surprise - a beautiful release of cherry notes, smooth from the first sip to the last. I will buy more!
Paired with salmon and very much enjoyed it. Light yet fairly complex.
A good solid PN. Caught it on sale so was a great value. Went very will with salmon.
Opened the first bottle of Lot 656 the other night. Pinot is my 3rd go-to grape behind Cabernet and Merlot. This wine is very good and is a nice change from what I usually drink.
Very rich Pinot Noir
I only drink Pinot Noir occasionally as I usually stick to cabs but I tried this one based on the review and it is Cam said - a Pinot Noir for cab drinkers. I will probably order a few more to keep as a nice change of pace.
Full bodied yet wonderful pinot character. My wife also loved this pinot and we are looking forward to blind tasting lot 656 against some pinots at 2 or 3 times the price.
This is a very good Pinot at this price point.
