Opens with lovely nose of sweet, ripe lemon blossom and white peach notes underpinned with apricot, melon and orange marmalade notes. Fleshy and round on entry, but amply structured around a pretty, schisty minerality that leads to a clean, pure, tangerine driven finish with a kiss of white pepper. An incredibly versatile wine, feel confident serving this as an aperitif on its own or pairing it wine with anything from cheese, roasted chicken, and pork to seafood and spicy Asian cuisine.
A crisp and dry white wine with origins in Austria, Gruner is known for its food pairing versatility and refreshing acidity. It's rarely planted outside of Austria, but California’s Clarksburg AVA features a microclimate and alluvial/riverbed soil structure perfect for growing this varietal – cool maritime breezes from the bay make for warm summer days and cool evenings usually about 10 degrees lower than Napa Valley just to the north. Produced by a family owned winery in Clarksburg dating back to the early 1900s, Lot 635 is fermented in stainless steel and aged on light lees for texture – a delicious Californian expression of an Austrian classic.
