Wine Details

Fairly dark in the glass, but not heavily extracted. Perky red currant and black pepper notes encircle black cherry and raspberry aromas. Juicy and fleshy on the palate, with racy red fruit notes riding atop a darker fruit wave that integrates perfectly with the tannin structure. Fresh and lively throughout, with a surprising complexity and harmony unexpected at this price point. It finishes clean and long, with a pure fruit essence that makes it superbly food friendly.

Similarly to how we got our Albariño series started, I reached out to the producer with a proposal to bottle under our Lot program, allowing us to pass the savings along to you without impacting their price in the marketplace.

Sourced from 30+ year-old head-trained bush vines, handpicked and fermented in concrete tanks in the Valdejalon region of Spain. The identical wine under its winery label scored 90pts from Parker’s Wine Advocate – at $12/bottle, this is an unbeatable deal.

This was my first Garnacha, so after reading some of the previous reviews I let it decant for a while before trying. I was very pleased. It was pleasantly smooth - not bite or bitterness. A very easy-drinking red.

Never had a better $12 bottle. I would expect this to be > $25 retail.

Very nice balanced Spanish red . Very fresh bouquet, fruit forward and medium body. Easy to drink with or without food. Enjoyed this one.

This is absolutely the Best Spanish Red Wine I have ever received from CHWINE. Very well balanced, fruit at the beginning, both on the nose and palette, not to dry, not to sweet, great finish with notes of various red berries, plums. No Bitter wine face after swallowing either! Cheers, Trent

Great wine with food -- and also by itself. Complements a wide variety of dishes. Medium-bodied and balanced -- not assertive -- in the sense the sense that the wine does not become the center of attention.

This is a well-balanced, medium bodied table wine, one you can serve with any meal asking for a red wine. It is the perfect accompaniment, harmonizing with food without taking over.

Young and fruit forward. Went will with our meal of pork tenderloin. Could lay down for at least a few years. Will definitely restock.

Tonight's mid-week meal was a nicely jazzed-up store-bought pasta sauce on top of nondescript noodles. So, I thought, let's crack open a bottle of that "cheap" Garnache that I had received last week. Cheap food, cheap wine--what can go wrong? Well, everything went right! This is a beautifully bodied red, with a lovely nose that carries over into your palate. Even now, almost two hours after opening the bottle, there are fruity notes, with just the slightest hint of tartness that's reminiscent of boysenberries. There's not even a hint of overpowering tannins, just the right kind of balance that makes you think you're drinking something much lighter than the 14% that the label claims. Dang, I wish I had ordered a few more than just the 6 bottles, but then, if I drink them fast I can reorder more! 5 stars as it presents a tremendous value. Cheers!

I ordered this wine having known old-vine Garnacha from Spain and Portugal. I love their deep concentration of dark and lighter fruit. Sort of like a Louden's Wild Cherry cough drop of bright cherries. Then enriched and tamed by brambly, black berries, plums and some black currants. Truly a great single varietal. And this Lot 623 2015 IGP Valdejalon Garnacha from Spain does not disappoint. Especially at the price. All the great characteristics you'd expect from old-vine Garnacha costing $25/bottle, wrapped up in long satisfying finish. Killer with roasted leg of lamb, Slow cooked beef short ribs. Or hang around and sip the entire bottle and be glad you only spent $12/bottle. And wishing you would had bought a case instead.

Was pleasantly surprised, have not tried many Spanish wines in past. Good fruit, medium body. Every day table wine, price is a excellent value. Glad I bought a few, will consider getting more.
