Wine Details

Right out of the bottle, it greets you with an engaging nose of sweet blossom, dark cherry and blackberry fruit framed against loamy volcanics, cassis and a lovely wood spice character that halos the nose beautifully. Velvety tannins underpin plump yet delineated fruit in a mouthwatering finish of cassis, blackberry and loam – silky smooth. I’d call this a more feminine (and I should also say “electric”) expression of Cabernet, with pristine fruit flavors and moderate alcohols (by Napa standards) but with all the complexity you’ve come to expect from Napa Cabernet. Trust me, you won’t miss the massive tannins.

This wine is sourced from two outstanding vineyards: one in Coombsville, and the other in Conn Valley (an incredible site sandwiched in-between Harlan/Bond’s vineyards Quella and Melbury, and one of my favorite wineries in Napa). The final blend saw tiny bits of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Merlot components from our Stagecoach Vineyard program. Nothing but the best went into this bottle of Cabernet, folks – this is a ridiculously and imminently pleasurable Cabernet with the highest pedigree, and an astonishing value at $32. This is the real deal, and given the current pricing levels we’re currently seeing in Napa, Lot 602 easily compares to Cabs three times its price.

Received this as part of the elite napa sampler. Was my least favorite of the bunch, but that is not a knock on this wine, as i thought the 601 and the 609 were outstanding. Gave it a two hour decant which seemed like enough. Will try the second bottle in a few years. Overall, another very good wine at a great value from CH.

Boy, right out of the bottle you are greeted with fruit and earth and more to finish with nice soft tannins that lead you to your next sip. Good at anytime with anyone and anything. So big, so Cabbie, so good! I ordered more.

Dark color with lots of blackberry. Very approachable after just an hour out of bottle.

One of my favorites from the 2014 Cabernet offerings. Very smooth, nice fruit up front but not too much. Great finish. I order some last year and have reordered a few times since. Tried it again a week ago and it is aging very well. Just ordered more during the Black Friday sale.

Strong blackberry notes initially, giving way to black cherry. Great balance of fruit and tannin, but lacking some complexity of better cabs. Solid. Jan17

Have continued to enjoy this one and it's just getting better.

A ready to drink now cab that is satisfying and pretty well balanced. Not as full bodied as the 601, but a very good value.

The wine smelled ok and tasted fine going down, but seemed to be lacking depth on both taste and smell. I also ended up with a fairly strong aftertaste that I can only describe as 'green'. A little like grass or watermelon rind. I know this all sounds quite negative, but I was not put off enough to not try it agin. I may have just not been in the mood for wine at the time.

Let it breathe for a little bit, very nice. A little bit more than others on CH but worth the occasional splurge. Will buy again when we want a big smooth Cab.
