Wine Details

Sublime, high-toned aromas of flowers, ripe blackberry, and molten licorice leap out of the glass. Luscious entry on the palate, redolent with dense, brooding dark fruits. Umami succulence abounds, bolstered by powerful structure and sensual textures. Power, precision, and depth – another velvet skyscraper of a wine.

Meteor Vineyard sits on a plateau of old alluvial gravels in Coombsville District’s geological “bowl”. Nature saw fit to form the incredible soils of this region on a diverse array of stony lake deposits and river sediments, resting on bedrock shaped by lava flows and other volcanic discharges from a time long forgotten. A cool climate region, Coombsville enjoys a growing season with morning fog and afternoon winds that shorten midday heat; maritime influences from the San Pablo Bay keep conditions cool leading up to harvest. It’s a very special place to grow exquisite Cabernet, and the list of producers sourcing here is a who’s who of blue chip cult wineries.

I will echo the review, that says it is a good wine, not not memorable. I have enjoyed wines from CH at a price point of $18 just as much. So, would I reorder this one if I could, nah.

Served it up while camping with prime ribeyes cooked over oak. Lush, firm, and absolutely delicious.

This is my second bottle and review, the first 7 months ago. Again, it took 2 hours to come completely together....and then nearly perfection.

The fruit, tannins, mineral, and oak circled and circled.....each in turn over and over until that 2 hour mark....then just a beautiful "oneness"...odd word, but appropriate.

This is really balanced. Coombsville all the way.

After a 2 hour decant the complexity of lot 598 began to emerge. Not as big as the other CH cabs released this year, lot 598 is beautifully balanced with notes of blackberry, herbs, flowers and chocolate.

Wow! I started buying this one with the 2011 which was great (in an "off" year). Tried a 2012 over the holidays and it was better. So I had to open a 2013 and OMG! The red cherry flavor brings a unique tartness that rivals great bordeaux or high end cult cabernets. It is so refreshingly different! Will take my time with the case of 2012 and even more of the 2013. Simply fantastic! I agree with Cam. It is one of my favorites!

THIS IS THE BEST OF 2015. WELL BALANCED, A LITTLE YOUNG, INCREDIBLE COMPLEXITY THRU THE TOTAL TASTE. I HAVE SOME IN MY CELLAR AND I WILL BE BUYING "MUCH " MORE! I RATED IT 99 AND MY WIFE RATED IT 98. REGARDS

The 2013 releases have all been superb, and I am splitting hairs in reviewing them as compared to each other, but this is the 4th best of the 2013 that I have tried. Solid cab, plenty of chewy tannins and better than 2012.

Purchased a couple of cases for the cellar after sampling this one. The hard part is being patient as this wine rocks now.
