Carneros has always been a favorite for lovers of Chardonnay and Pinot. A distinct AVA that was created based on climate characteristics rather than political boundaries (which is why some Carneros labels display Napa and others are printed Sonoma), Carneros’ rolling hills, marine fog layer, and loam/clay soils consistently produce some of the finest cool climate varietals that California has to offer.
Sourced from a Carneros winery that was producing single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir before the AVA was even established, Lot 594 is a complex white wine that will satisfy fans of the buttery, rich style as well as those who prefer a bit more finesse with their Chards. Whole cluster pressed, barrel fermented, and aged in 50% new French oak. With each vintage routinely scoring in the 90-93 range from Wine Enthusiast under the producing winery’s label, this is a no brainer at this price.
Great for the Price
One of the best Chards from CH for the price. Will purchase again.
Beautifully balanced chard
Notes of meyer lemon and a touch of oak. A lovely balance between the Chablis style and California/oaked style...the buttery is perhaps a bit closer to vanilla. But a lovely Chard, and an excellent pairing with seafood...we had it w/pollock, and it sang! Excellent wine, excellent value!
This wine has a granny apple, lemony, tart cherry, taste. I don't get oak at all. It's not a buttery chard. It's more like a SBlanc to my taste. It's a nice wine, but it is, for me, not in the chardonnay range.
This is just a lovely chardonnay that strikes the right balance between fruit and acid without too much oak. The price is right too. I could drink this all day, though that would not be wise!
A decent wine
A decent wine, but I have to agree with others that it did not deliver on the oak as promised. I would be surprised if this satisfied fans of a more "buttery" style.
One of the best Chards I have ever had from CH WIne. Heck maybe even one of the best Chards anywhere. Great balance! We had it with king crab legs and it paired wonderfully!
Best of Class
This Chardonnay from Carneros is not just a typical California Chardonnay. It is a Best of Class Chard just like those form Sonoma that sell for $60.00-$100.00 a bottle. It is that good.It is smooth, buttery and delivers a graceful finish that lingers on and on. What a deal at $16.00.
Nice chardonnay-just ordered 11 more bottles
Nice chardonnay- not the real buttery type, but very good. Got it originally as part of my club membership, but just received re-order of 11 bottles.
Smooth and easy drinking
While not as buttery as I expected from description, it was had a soft and smooth texture and good taste.
Big California Chard
While we are reserved in our oak and butter palate, this wine retained the freshness and fruit to satisfy our palate. It is an outstanding value at this price point
