Wine Details

Raised largely in stainless steel with a small portion going to neutral barrel, Lot 591 presents fresh, uplifted aromas of blackberry and black cherry mingled with red clay and peppery floral notes. It's plump and juicy on the palate, but lovingly juxtaposes the dark fruit and earthy clay components of the nose. It's supple across the mid-palate with an elegant, lengthy, fruit-driven finish.

Produced from DOCG (for the uninitiated, DOCG stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita which translates to Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) vineyards in the heart of the Asti region of Piedmont, this is on the darker side of the spectrum for Barbera, stylistically combining the zip of Asti with the robustness of Alba.

Goes great with any meat pasta. Would not drink alone, though.

I am a huge fan of Italian wines and this was a great one. Thoroughly enjoyed!

The first few sips finished with long notes of sour cherry, heavy on the sour. Then I sat down to a spaghetti dinner & the wine immediately smoothed out when paired with a spicy meat sauce. And the last sips were delicious with a little bite of rich, dark chocolate. This wine is definitely at its best when enjoyed with food!

Nice everyday dry red Italian wine. Goes with pasta dishes well. Good alone as well. Light enough for me.

We bought a half case. Followed previous suggestions and gave it some time after opening.
A delightful wine now but should improve with a few years of patient waiting.

This wine is fruity and a perfect complement for Italian dishes. It's big on flavor for a small price.

I got this as a good spaghetti wine and it did not disappoint. One of the best I've tried. Highly recommended.

This is my first Barbera but I was very pleased. Fruity and well balanced. Very smooth finish and goes well with almost anything. At this value, I will certainly be buying more.

My palate tends toward heavier Cabs and Syrahs, but this Lot 591 was a very light and pleasant change of pace! Loved the dry crispness and, oh my, what a value! Pairs well with light meals and nice to have on hand for any occasion.

Nice light but just enough nuance. A dry Italian red that pairs well with most any pasta. A nice break from the fruit forward cabs I've been drinking. A great value for an everyday wine!
