Lot 568 comes to us as a shiner from friends of a friend – a couple of tech execs in love with Pinot Noir who decided to launch their own micro-production Pinot label. These are not your average hobbyists – both have UC Davis fermentation science backgrounds. The critics recognized their efforts, and the last few vintages have seen them pick up 90, 91, 92pts/Editors’ Choice/Cellar Selection awards from the Wine Enthusiast! However, as the old adage goes: making wine is far easier than selling it, particularly when it’s not your day job. Hence, our opportunity to pick up their production from the terrific 2014 vintage!
Sourced using fruit from the legendary Rodgers Creek Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast AVA. Located on the cooler west side slopes of Sonoma Mountain, it performs as a single vineyard designate for Sojourn and Landmark (to name a few), not to mention one of my favorite California Syrahs from Dave Ramey. With additional fruit coming from the Hurst Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, this is a beautifully rendered Pinot Noir that combines ripe yet pretty fruit with plenty of delineation, freshness, and structure. An opportunity to pick up a critically acclaimed, delicious Pinot Noir shiner (with a few years of bottle aging already done for you, I might add) under half the original price!
It's a Pinot!
We liked this Pinot but we didn't love it. It had the characteristics that everyone was raving about, but we prefer a pinot with less of that. I'm not sure what was missing for us but maybe it would have been better with food.

Best of the Pinot's so far
Exceptional Pinot Noir. From the moment I felt the thickness of the bottle and saw the high quality long cork, I knew I was in for a treat. At first pour it smelled like crushed limestone, but after it sat for a few minutes it was all fruit with a hint of coffee.
Toasty oak notes come through in the best way without being over-powering, and I thought the mouthfeel was thick for a Pinot Noir, which was not bad at all.
Ends with a short peppery/earthy taste that finishes quick.
I LOVED this wine.
Bought this bottle for a friend as a going away gift. They loved it. Great gift idea. Shipping was on time!
Soft and Cozy
That's right soft and cozy! Pour this wine into a glass and swirl it. You are met with a bouquet of fruit and white flowers. The first taste has the raspberry and cherry leading on the palate with the soft white flowery finish. So soft. So cozy. This wine warms the soul. My comfort wine. I will definitely order more.
Excellent wine for the price
Had this wine with family and everyone was in agreement that this was a very smooth and delightful wine. I am more of a Cab drinker but was impressed with this bottle. It had a very soft finish that I found to be refreshing. Would recommend to any red wine drinkers.
Lovely hint of smoke on the palate complicating the classically aromatic rose/cherry pinot fruit profile, and featuring lovely balance between the fruit and acidity in this medium-bodied wine.
Pretty and complex wine with red fruit and earth on the nose and nice long finish
Enjoying the wine as usual with Cameron at the helm. Would be some better with a lower alcohol content, however.
