Lot 567 might be as close you can get to an “everyday” drinking Napa Cab. While it’s still a complex wine produced from a high end barrel program, the winemaking team has managed to show a good deal of restraint here (no bombastic fruit profile, no overwhelming tannins), and the result is an accessible Napa Cabernet that’s ready to pair with your dinner tonight without extended bottle aging or decanting.
Sourced from a Napa Valley winery whose “Reserve” Cabernet scored 91 from the Spectator last year, Lot 567 comes from their classic offering (same vineyard sourcing), and due to supply and demand inefficiencies, was an opportunity that presented itself to us at an exceptional price.
Nothing special at this time
Not a lot of fruit on either the nose or taste. This one was not up to the normal standards of a Cab from CH wines.
Not a fair comparison
I opened this bottle after drinking a $45 bottle of wine to see how it will compare.
it was not as complex nor smooth and the finish was not as enjoyable. I thought Cameron wines could be compared to bottles twice their price. Not this one.
Re: Terrific value
Terrific wine at a great price!
Just as Promised
This wine is exactly as the review says. I use this as an everyday drinking wine that seems to go with any meal.
The description is accurate. Bright fruit. Florals. I got some vanilla. Not terribly complex and a bit thin. Nice to drink, but it's not going to wow you. This is a great way to introduce a cab to a newcomer. As far as value, I've paid twice as much as a restaurant for less, BUT compared with some of the others you can get through CH, maybe if the value weren't quite as high on other bottles, we wouldn't be so spoiled. I wouldn't turn it down but would grab something different from this site for less. Great wine for the price.
Good daily Cab
CH has set a high bar with many extraordinary Cab offerings. This was a completely acceptable daily offering that would have had more appeal at a more favorable price point.
Missed the mark
We were so excited to try this wine last night. But it ended up being the most disappointing wine that I have tasted from Cameron Hughes. This wine was not up to his high standards.
Juicy right from the start with chocolate overtones and wonderful floral on the nose. drinks well right now. Nice.
A Napa Cab under 25? Sign me right up! Found this to be a very pleasant drinker. I like the less intense style.
Not a fan
We didn't feel it was a good value at $24 a bottle.
