2015 Columbia Valley Red Wine
90 pts & Gold Medal, 2018 Winemaker Challenge; An incredible value from Washington state that punches way above its price tag.
Pours dark, inky, and saturated in the glass. The nose is tightly wound, almost concave at first, showing oak and blackberry jam with hints of cherry. Lush and focused on the palate, with sappy high-toned red fruit and plums backed by smooth tannins. A terrific wine to enjoy on its own or as a food pairing, and continues to drink magnificently the day after opening.
Style: Medium, Smooth
The emergence of Washington as a new frontier (relatively speaking) continues to surge. Lot 566 comes from a project from one of the most famous proprietors in the industry - a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah, this is a lush, ripe, oaky showcase of what WA state is capable of producing. If the label on this wine displayed Napa Valley, you’d pay twice as much without blinking. At $14/bottle, this is an absolutely screaming deal.
