There were a number of candidates for our biggest release of the year. Ultimately, we chose one deserving winner, sourced from a fantastic estate in Rutherford deeply rooted in classical traditions and family winemaking heritage. Its vineyards are certainly amongst Napa’s finest, and definitely in the discussion for the top 10. Stylistically, the wines produced from these soils are classic Napa Valley, featuring finesse, elegance, complexity, and the length of flavor associated with Grand Cru dirt. For various reasons, we couldn’t show the Rutherford designation on the label, but you’ll know it when you get your first sip of this wine.
Every time I open a bottle of this and let it decant at least three hours, I am amazed at the smoothness of it. The flavors are so well balanced that it is deep, strong, delicious and lasting each sip. Still have several bottles and my husband and I are savouring one about every six months!
This had been sitting in my cooler for years. What a treat!! Great tannins but not overly fruity...long finish. The balance was particularly evident. This is old school Napa.
I found this bottle and just opened it, it was wonderful. I wish I would have tried it sooner as it has sold out.
Big and rich
Nice balance with sweet dark fruit and well integrated tannins
Still Has Big Legs!!
A Big one that will age well
It's a great cab. Finally tried this one. Even after some time in the bottle this still has a ways to go to get the full potential. It's a big boy. I am going to let it cellar for a few more years and it will be outstanding.
Great wine than needs time
Rich concentrated nose. Tried after about 1 hour in glass and wine was still closed. Put a cork in and tried the next day. After 1 hour in glass it was outstanding. This big boy had opened up very nicely. Concentrated fruit that went very nicely with a beef stew. I would decant for at least 3 hours if drinking now. Should age very well.
Kept this in the cellar for a couple years. Recently cracked it open, decanted for 3 hours, and enjoyed it with a beautiful grilled steak.
AMAZING. This is what a big cab should be! Wish I could get my hands on more lot 555!
Opened up the first bottle of Lot 555 after waiting a full year. This Cab leaps straight out of the glass. Massive fruit, well integrated tannins, and plenty of Oak in there. Another great Napa Cab!
Smooth and Balanced
After a year of sitting in storage, we opened a bottle of 555 and compared to our memories from last year. Excellent cab that is balanced and slightly fruit forward, but not overwhelming. The tannins are not as powerful as the other 2012 cabs, but does show after some air. My second favorite behind the 525 for the 2012 offerings.
one of our favorites
I am glad we bought 1/2 a case, but wish it were 2 cases. A fabulous age worthy wine.
