I’ve recently come across a stash of just under 100 cases of “reserve” shiners – with well over a year already in the bottle, it’s a prime candidate for instant pop and pour and a terrific deal at $18 (vs its $30/bottle original label price). A blend of 37% Merlot/36% Malbec sourced from the Sonoma Valley and 27% Sangiovese from the Alexander Valley, this is a rich and concentrated red blend that’s very approachable and showing great balance - a classic crowd pleasing Spring sipper.
*Note: The original winery labeled their wine a "Meritage," so we relabeled the bottles as such. However, given the presence of Sangiovese in the blend (which isn't officially one of the "noble" Bordeaux varietals), we consider Lot 551 a Red Blend.
