A deeper, more resinous experience of Albariño, this free-run cuvee spends an additional 4-5 months on its lees. The nose is more orchard fruit driven, with mineral tinged pear, white peach, and nectarine tinged with spicy ginger. The powdery blossom notes are there but subtle against the spicy fruit, saline, and rock salad. Lush but lively on the palate, with a fantastic delineation of stone fruit, schist, and saline in a long, resinous finish that shows there’s lots more to come.

Style: Light, Fruity

Flavors: Melon, Mineral, Peach

Cam Confidential

Lot 546 is born of granitic, alluvial soils a stone’s throw from the Ria de Arousa Estuary in the heart of the Salnés Valley of Rías Baixas, long known as the birthplace of Albariño and its greatest expression. Obviously I can’t name the producer, but they have some of the oldest plantings of Albariño in the region and you can be assured that the name is ubiquitous amongst Spanish sommeliers. Year after year, their Albariño has been rated 90+ by Galloni’s Vinous, Wine Enthusiast, and other top publications.

Lot 546 is their highest offering available in the US. Produced from some of the best free-run parcels and aged a few extra months on the lees, it's a terrific candidate for aging. Compare at $25.
