Really Drinking Well
Well, as usual with all the big releases I cellar mine for at least 5 years, Opened my first of the 535 last night. Wow, is it really, really good. When I saw the 15.1% alcohol I knew this needed some time to come together, and it has now. This was a screaming deal and like the rest of the 2012's one of the best.
Another excellent 2012 Cabernet!
Had this with half-pound Wagyu beef burgers -- the perfect complement!
After a nearly one-hour decant, it was delicious. Again, a Cam "Outstanding Value" like all the 2012 Napa Cabernets!
Well-integrated, dark fruit, nice oak, a dusty moderate-length finish, just a hint of alcohol "heat".
Glad there are still 7 of these in the cellar!
Nice wine but out of balance
Opened this last night after cellaring for awhile. It has a lot going for it and nice stony graphite dark fruit notes that gave it that high end Napa cab character. But the high alcohol (15.1%) was very noticeable and in my opinion put the wine out of balance.
How do they do it?
You can't get wine this good for prices this cheap! Awesome!
I ordered this bottle in August of last year. I just opened today, January 11th 2016 and it blew my socks off. Beautiful in the glass, nice on the smell and even better on taste. Needless to say, now they are sold out! Wish I stocked up when I had the chance!
Not as good as the rest of the 2012's, but still very enjoyable. A bit too much alcohol IMO. Needs a lot of time to breath to soften up a little.
Still Needs More Time
Lot 535 was the second wine I ever orders from CHWine. We sampled immediately upon arrival last year and once more closer to Christmas. It was good then, not great. Last night we opened a bottle after a year in the cellar. Good nose and fruit on the palate but the finish was lacking. Over the next three to four hours after decanting, it started to open up and bloom on the finish. Still my least favorite of the big cab releases last year, but can't beat the value. Would Imoay $50 for this, no, but for $29, it pretty good. Will try again in another year.
Not quite the best
Just a step below the other great 2012s
Glad I grabbed it
Yet another CH beautiful Cab. Not sure how you do it Cam, at these prices...but keep doing it.Can't wait for the new releases
Initial nose is of bramble fruit and a hint of dust cocoa. After aeration, super rich fruit explodes with nice tannic firmness preventing flab. This is a five-star of a cabernet, and I'm sure will continue to develop over the next 5-10 years.
