Wine Details

Immediately intense, gorgeous, multifaceted and pure. At once smoky/meaty/peppery/chocolatey, it’s also beautifully fruited with a core of pretty raspberry fruit and savory blackberry, topped off with purple florals, white pepper and sage all dusted with cocoa powder. The palate has excellent tension, perfectly balanced between its savory floral components, rich fruit, and chocolatey underpinning. This is a ridiculously complex wine with pristine oak integration and soulful purity that will speak to lovers of Rhône wines foreign and domestic.

Home to the largest concentration of wineries in Santa Barbara, the long east-west corridor of the Santa Ynez Valley is a world-renowned AVA and ground zero for some of the greatest Rhône varietals being grown in California. Perfect diurnal swing and cobbly vineyards make this region a natural home for Rhône varietals like Syrah and Grenache. Sourced from the Estelle Vineyard at the heart of the valley, this blend of 84% Syrah and 16% Grenache is a fantastic bottle of wine at this price, especially given that other bottlings from the same vineyard now range from $29-$35/bottle.

either decant this for 2 hours or hold onto it for a couple of years. this wine is quite a monster for a syrah/grenache blend. maybe I'm just used to more french iterations of this blend, but this kind of lacked the elegance i was looking for. if you want something to cellar that is super complex, go for it but definitely know it needs its time.

This one I did not care for. Being a big GMS person I felt this wine was lacking something. I did not car for the finish.

Cam’s review nails it. Right out of the bottle this is almost meaty and smoky...very complex and interesting, I’ve never really tasted something like that. But almost immediately, it evens out in the glass into what I can best describe as a classically smooth taste and finish of a nice French blend. I didn’t expect this for fourteen bucks. Really complex, which makes drinking it an experience. Thanks again Cam, keep them coming!

Very smooth, fruity taste. Enjoyed it right out of the bottle as a casual evening drink.

...for me. Wine is almost like drinking a weak spicy syrup. 530 is not a favorite.
