Wine Details
This glass-staining elixir is almost pitch black, with hints of red around the rim. The aromatics are just gaining complexity at this point, but right out of the gate you can smell the volcanic influence and the altitude…warm river rock, dusty black fruit, sweet oak and licorice leap from the glass. The palate is multi-layered and strikingly well-balanced, combining the dense chewiness of mountain Cabernet with the rich fruit of a picture perfect vintage. Black currant, plum, and blueberry essence are complex, harmonious and beautifully proportioned.

Lot 525 is produced from the celebrated M block of Stagecoach Vineyard. M block and its surrounding blocks are the source for a veritable who’s who of blue chip Napa Valley producers – one fellow sourcing from the same M block (who, coincidentally, makes wine at the same facility where 525 was made) sells his wine for $175/bottle. Stagecoach combines red volcanic soils with 1200-1750 foot elevations to produce classic, long-lived Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s only fitting that our first big Cab release of the season comes from this amazing property.
