This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a 2010-2013 vertical of pedigreed, gorgeous, single vineyard designate Pinot Noir from what is universally lauded as one of the best places to grow Pinot in the United States - the Santa Rita Hills. The vineyard is specifically mentioned and highly lauded by Antonio Galloni in his 2014 report on the region. However, instead of the going rate of $50+/bottle, this amazing collection can be had for just $19/bottle. Each vintage features the same vineyard, is comprised of a 115, 667, and 777 Dijon clone blend (more about Pinot Noir clones here), is made from the same barrel regimen, and bottled unfined and unfiltered – in short, a perfectly consistent snapshot of the vintage.
I had one bottle of this in April of 2016 and agreed it was big, Cab-like and definitely benefited from a decant. I decided it was a sleeper that would really reach it's peak in 3-5 years. I just had another bottle (in April of 2019) and was rewarded for my patience. All the early qualities were still there, but what's been added was an amazing depth of spice and smokiness. I wish I had two more bottles to see how this evolves in 2021 and 2024.
Needed a decant. Cherry, earth, dried flowers on the nose. Tart cherry, earth, and leather palate. As it opened up it displayed more of the Cabernet characteristics mentioned by CH.
Bigger style pinot from a great vintage
Big brawny style pinot from a vintage that deliveed the intensity and concentration one finds here.
Perhaps not the bottle for those Burgundy nuts who speak of finesse and femininity, all i know is this went great with a slab of grilled salmon.
Go big pinot!
Complex and Enjoyable
Opened this alongside a bottle of Lot 510. The 510 is an excellent value but this was superb. Opened the bottle and let it open up for about 90 minutes. Complexity, started off with black fruit and felt like you were drinking a far more expensive wine. Smooth finish with a very pleasing taste. Regretting only getting two bottles but this one is a winner. We had it with lighter grilled meats but this has the profile to work with anything from chicken to steak in my opinion. I compare this to $45-$50 bottle at my local store. Outstanding wine and outstanding value.
Beautiful Pinot Noir
Great opportunity to try 4 vintages of Santa Rita Hills vineyard. All 4 are beautiful in their own way which makes it exciting to try the variations from vintage to vintage. Well done!
Quite amazing. Cam out does itself again.
I should have bought a case. At least I got an opportunity to buy one bottle.
This pinot was thin, not mellow, and not particularly tasteful. It was barely drinkable; I hope the other pinots in the flight are not such a big disappointment.
We bought the vertical with 2 of this one, and it was outstanding - more dense than we expected and it opened up wonderfully. Excellent value - we will order more.
Bought this wine from the vertical. Of the four this is my absolute favorite. Rich aromatics and simply flawless mouthfeel. I did not decant the wine and though it is young, wow is all I have to say. Cannot believe this was only $19/bottle. I bought 3 more cases.
