Wine Details

Deep, dark and brooding, Lot 515 is almost pitch-black, with just hints of red on the rim. You can smell the structure as the seemingly concave nose pulls you down in the glass. With air, aromas of toasty oak, brambly dark cherry, and molten chocolate emerge; as the wine continues to open up, the nose evolves and is joined by additional notes of earthy red rock and black licorice. On the palate, Lot 515 is massive yet very inviting, with lush juicy fruit and mineral-laced tannins that will continue to unwind over the next decade. This is a gorgeous wine that combines density and power with approachability and elegant perfume.

Cam Confidential

Since its planting in the 1880s, Monte Rosso has perhaps been the greatest source for Cabernet in Sonoma County. Located 1,000-2,000 feet above the valley floor, the famous red soils of Monte Rosso produce incredible Cabernets that are consistently awarded 91-95 point scores from Parker, Galloni, and other major publications year after year. With 20 months of aging in new French oak (Atelier, Remond, Taransaud, Ermitage, Sirugue), Lot 515 weighs in at a hefty 15.4% alcohol, but exhibits no heat – just rich, concentrated fruit and huge structure. Yields for this fruit were a mere 3.5 tons/acre, which means bigger and denser berries for a powerhouse wine.

A really big and Bold Cabernet. Will only get better with a few more years in the cellar. Let this decant for a couple of hours to let the flavor open up. Pairs well with nice medium steak.

Full bodied. After a 1 hour decant, deep complexities and a very balanced wine will emerge.

Fabulous nose with great dark currant and plum. Rich dark fruit with well integrated tannins that opens up even better with a couple hours. Tremendous value at twice the price

I only bought 6 bottles and I opened one Labor Day weekend. It has that lush mouth coating tannins, cedar notes, black currants and other flavors I love. 92 points on WS, I agree maybe even 93 points.

So sorry I didn't hoard a few cases of this while it was still around. The gold standard by which I will measure future CH cabs. Hope there is something similar coming for 2013!

Been ordering wine form CHW for about 4 years. 515 is the best cab I have yet received. I only order cabs and zins.

I had just read your email and decided to open the one bottle that I had for my 48th wedding anniversary. It was everything that you described. My wife and I both were impressed. Unfortunately, when I tried to order a few more, you were sold out. I guess I need to act quicker.

Get a Ribeye, crack this puppy open and enjoy. At $32 you're easily getting a $75 value. Buy a case, sit some down and drink the rest, it's ready and should get better.

Very big, full bodied, loaded with fruit and nicely aged for a smooth oaky vanilla flavor.
